04/07/2010 Culture, Collectivism, and a Brighter Tomorrow

From July 4th-19th 2010 a group of young dancers and artists from Lajee Center in Aida Refugee Camp will be touring England. This is the second tour following the very successful 2008 project to which around 3,000 people attended a range of public festivals, shows, exhibitions, and collective workshops. |

20/05/2010 Flying High on Nakba Day

As 62 years of ongoing Nakba was marked across Palestine, kites filled the skies above Aida Camp. The red, green, white, and black of the national flag swirled and twisted amongst blue skies as youthful smiles filled Aida’s streets. Aida Camp’s new generations were again demonstrating their sumoud (steadfastness), and their will to return.

Following on from recent successful exhibitions at Kings College London and the University of Birmingham, Lajee Center’s latest international photography exhibition will be held at the ‘Bangor to Bethlehem International Palestine Festival’ in North Wales.

On Tuesday April 20th, a fundraising night for Palestine is being held at The Doghouse in Brixton, London, featuring a top line of comedians including Jeremy Hardy and Ivor Dembina, and music by the Amigans.

Lajee Center organized an Open Day for children in a program entitled,
'The Mother and Child', which the Center organizes every Friday and Saturday.
Kindergarten children, plus other children in the camp, were invited to participate in the Open Day.

The Menonite Central Committee is one of the partner institutions with Lajee Center through their ongoing support of the Lajee/MCC children’s summer camp which has been organized by Lajee Center every summer for the past five years.

On December 28th Lajee Center held its bi-annual elections for the Administrative Board and its Monitoring Committee. Lajee Center Aministrative Board is the committee that oversees the work of the center, makes recommendations to Lajee staff, and verifies all projects, activities, and financial matters.
